May regulate tyrosine kinase activity of SRC-family members in brain by specifically phosphorylating their C-terminal regulatory tyrosine residue which acts as a negative regulatory site. Transcript Variant: This variant (2) contains a distinct 5' UTR, lacks an in-frame portion of the 5' coding region and uses an alternate in-frame splice site in the 5' coding region, compared to variant 1. The resulting isoform (2) has a shorter N-terminus, compared to isoform 1.
