Gene Summary | This function of this gene has yet to be determined but based on sequence similarity to other SET domain proteins it may function as a histone methyltransferase. Mutations in this gene have been associated with an autosomal dominant form of intellectual disability. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2017] Transcript Variant: This variant (2) contains an alternate 5' exon structure and initiates translation at a downstream start codon, compared to variant 1. The encoded protein (isoform 2) has a shorter N-terminus, compared to isoform 1. Variants 2 and 3 both encode the same isoform (2). Sequence Note: This RefSeq record was created from transcript and genomic sequence data to make the sequence consistent with the reference genome assembly.
