Gene Summary | This gene encodes a member of the dedicator of cytokinesis protein family. Members of this family are guanosine nucleotide exchange factors for Rho GTPases and defined by the presence of conserved DOCK-homology regions. The encoded protein belongs to the D (or Zizimin) subfamily of DOCK proteins, which also contain an N-terminal pleckstrin homology domain. Alternatively spliced transcript variants that encode different isoforms have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2014] Transcript Variant: This variant (2; also known as DOCK10.2) represents use of an alternate promoter, differs in the 5' UTR and 5' coding region, and initiates translation at a distinct start codon, compared to variant 1. The resulting protein (isoform 2) is shorter and has a distinct N-terminus compared to isoform 1.
