• Gene Summary: This gene encodes an extracellular matrix glycoprotein that is involved in the formation of dental enamel. Mice lacking the encoded protein fail to undergo normal ameloblast differentiation and develop enamel. Mice overproducing the product of this gene develop thinner and more porous enamel, with disrupted rod patterns and abnormal crystallites.
