Detection Systems

OriGene is proud to distribute the high quality IHC reagents from GBI Labs, Inc. including a wide variety of chromogenic detection kits, which are specially designed to use enzymes converting soluble substrates to insoluble, chromogenic end products at the site of antigen expression. Two most common enzymes used for chromogenic detection are Horseradish peroxidase (HRP) which can convert 3,3' diaminobenzidine (DAB) and 3-amino-9-ethylcarbazole (AEC), into brown and red end products respectively, and alkaline phosphatase (AP) using AP-RED or Fast Red for red color visualization and BCIP/NBT for blue color visualization.

GBI?s detection systems are either Biotin-Streptavidin based or Polymer-based detection systems. Biotin-Streptavidin system uses biotinylated secondary antibody and HRP or AP labeled-streptavidin to detect primary antibody, whereas Polymer-based system uses polymer to link a large number of antibodies and enzymes. The latter normally has better sensitivity, and easier process comparing to biotin based system.

One unique detection kit from GBI is their Klear kit, specifically developed for the human-on-human and mouse-on-mouse IHC staining. They have shown great specificity and high sensitivity for the staining.
