A membrane-bound isoform exhibits sequence similarity with the mouse mahogany protein, a receptor involved in controlling obesity. Transcript Variant: This variant (4) uses an alternate splice junction at the 3' end of the first exon and differs in the 3' UTR and coding region compared to variant 1. The resulting isoform (4) has distinct N- and C-termini compared to isoform 1. Unlike isoform 1, which is membrane-bound, isoform 4 is secreted.
