Applications | ID, IHC |
Recommended Dilution | Suitable for use in Radial Immunodiffusion (RID), Double Diffusion and Immunoelectrophoresis. The use of 3% PEG 6000 with 1.2% Agarose in a suitable buffer (such as TBE or Tris-barbital pH > 8.2) is ecommended. Suitability for use in nephelometry, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays, immunohistochemistry and Western blot has not been assessed but use in such assays should not necessarily be excluded. This product can also be conjugated to fluorochromes, enzymes, etc. RID: 6 µl antiserum / cm2 gel vs. 5 µl neat-1/10 dilution Human plasma. Double Diffusion: 10 µl antiserum vs. 5 µl plasma IEP: 100 µl antiserum vs. 5 µl plasma. |
Reactivities | Canine, Equine, Feline, Human, Mouse, Rat |
Host | Sheep |
Clonality | Polyclonal |
Immunogen | Human Antithrombin III purified from plasma, shown to be homogeneous by SDS-PAGE. |
Specificity | Antibody to Human Antithrombin III. This Antithrombin III antibody gives a single arc when tested by IEP against human plasma. Identity is confirmed by double diffusion (Ouchterlony) against human plasma and a known anti-human antithrombin III. The cross reactivity of this product against the sera of the species listed below has been assessed by double diffusion using 10ul of antisera against 5ul of species sera. These results are intended as a guideline only. |
Formulation | Glycine buffered saline, pH 7.4 containing 0.099% Sodium Azide, 0.1% EACA, 0.01% Benzamidine, 1mM EDTA State: Purified State: Liquid purified (0.2µm filtered) fraction |
Concentration | lot specific |
Purification | Ion Exchange Chromatography (DEAE); immunoelectrophoresis (IEP) and double diffusion |
Storage | Store the antibody undiluted at 2-8°C. DO NOT FREEZE! |

Background | Antithrombin III (ATH III) is a plasma protein synthesised in the liver. Normal plasma levels are 115 to 160mg/L. ATH III consists of a single polypeptide chain and has a molecular weight of 58kDa. ATH III is a serine protease inhibitor and regulates coagulation by the formation of covalently liked complexes. ATH III also has a heparin binding site and in the presence of heparin the inhibition of thrombin, factors IXa, Xa and XIa is enhanced 1000 fold. Low levels of ATH III (functional or concentration) are associated with deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. Antithrombin assays are based on immunologic, enzymatic, or clotting properties. |
