Gene Name Homo sapiens cell division cycle 16 (CDC16), transcript variant 2
Background Cell cycle events are regulated by the sequential activation and deactivation of cyclin dependent kinases (Cdks) and by the proteolysis of cyclins. The cell division cycle (Cdc) genes are required at various points in the cell cycle. Cell division cycle protein 16 homolog (CDC16) is a component of the APC (anaphase-promoting complex), which is composed of eight proteins and functions as a protein ubiquitin ligase. The APC complex is a cyclin degradation system that governs exit from mitosis. Each component protein of the APC complex is highly conserved among eukaryotic organisms.
Synonyms ANAPC6, Cell division cycle protein 16 homolog, CDC16Hs
Reference Data
Protein Families Druggable Genome
Protein Pathways Cell cycle, Oocyte meiosis, Progesterone-mediated oocyte maturation, Ubiquitin mediated proteolysis
