• Specificity: This Ly6C.2 monoclonal antibody detects the Ly6C.2 (Ly28.2) antigen found on subpopulations of peripheral lymphocytes (50% of CD8+ peripheral T lymphocytes) and bone marrow cells, most neutrophils, but not on thymus cells. (1)
  The Ly6C.2 and Ly6B.2 determinants have been identified as having overlapping tissue distribution, but they have been proven to be separate entities which are juxtaposed on the cell membrane. (2)
  Thus, althought the role of Ly6C.2 is unclear, antibodies to this antigen may be useful tolls for separating functionally distinct subpopulations of lymphocytes and resolving pathways of differentiation. Anti-Ly6C.2 antibodies may also prove useful in T cell activation studies as one of the prominent features of the Ly6C.2 specificity is its enhanced expression following T cell activation. (1)
