Protein Families Transmembrane
Gene Summary This gene encodes a member of the Synaptotagmin (Syt) family of membrane trafficking proteins. Members of this family contain a transmembrane region and a C-terminal-type tandem C2 domain. Unlike related family members, the encoded protein may be involved in membrane trafficking in non-neuronal tissues. Two trancript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Transcript Variant: This variant (b) contains an alternate 3' sequence, compared to variant a. The resulting isoform (b) contains a shorter and distinct C-terminus compared to isoform a. Sequence Note: The RefSeq transcript and protein were derived from genomic sequence to make the sequence consistent with the reference genome assembly. The genomic coordinates used for the transcript record were based on alignments.
