Expression of this gene is regulated by glucose, and the encoded protein plays a role in the regulation of insulin gene expression. Downregulation of this gene may play a role in type 2 diabetes. Transcript Variant: This variant (2) uses an alternate splice site in the 3' coding region, but maintains the reading frame, compared to variant 1. Variants 2 and 3 encode the same isoform (2), which is shorter than isoform 1.
