Gene Summary | This gene encodes a protein with 5-phosphatase activity toward polyphosphate inositol. The protein localizes to the cytosol in regions lacking actin stress fibers. It is thought that this protein may negatively regulate the actin cytoskeleton. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2008] Transcript Variant: This variant (3) has an additional segment in its 5' end, as compared to variant 1. The resulting isoform, isoform 2, has a shorter N-terminus, compared to isoform 1. Variants 2 and 3 encode the same isoform, isoform 2. |
