Protein Description | This product has been prepared from human placenta and is free from other collagens, human serum proteins and non-collagen extracellular matrix proteins. Reacts with anti-Collagen Type III. Reaction with anti-Collagen I, II, IV, V or VI is negligible (typically less than 1% cross reactivity was detected by ELISA). |
Note | Caution: No test method can provide total assurance that the hepatitis B virus, hepatitis C virus, human immunodeficiency virus, or any other infectious agents are absent. Thus, all blood products, including purified proteins derived from human blood sources, should be handled at Biosafety Level 2 as recommended by the CDCNIH manual entitled Biosafety in Microbiological and Biomedical Laboratories for potentially infectious human serum, blood specimens or proteins derived from same. Source material for the human blood product supplied to your facility has been tested for the detection of HIV antibody, Hepatitis B surface antigen, antibody to Hepatitis C, HIV 1 antigen(s), antibody to HTLV - I/II, and syphilis by FDA guidelines. All units were found to be non-reactive/negative for these tests. All human blood source material is collected in FDA licensed centers and is tested with FDA approved test kits. |
Storage | Store vial at 2-8°C prior to opening. This product is stable 2-8°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. |

Summary | 'This gene encodes the pro-alpha1 chains of type III collagen, a fibrillar collagen that is found in extensible connective tissues such as skin, lung, uterus, intestine and the vascular system, frequently in association with type I collagen. Mutations in this gene are associated with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome types IV, and with aortic and arterial aneurysms. Two transcripts, resulting from the use of alternate polyadenylation signals, have been identified for this gene. [provided by R. Dalgleish, Feb 2008]' |
