  This Rat Monoclonal antibody clone LMR-42 detects an outer-surface epitope of a 55 kDa plasma membrane protein overexpressed in several Human non-Pgpmultidrug-resistant (MDR) tumor cell lines.
  Expression cloning revealed that the LMR-42 antigen is identical to the Human Endothelial Cell Protein Receptor (EPCR). Protein C is the zymogen of the key anticoagulant enzyme, activated protein C (APC).
  LMR-42 has potential value for the detection of EPCR, which may mediate anti-coagulant and anti-inflammatory functions along vascular endothelia. Whether and how anti-coagulant and anti-inflammatory functions of EPCR facilitate oncogenesis and/or drug-resistance is unclear.

• Background: PROCR (CD201) is a receptor for activated protein C, a serine protease activated by and involved in the blood coagulation pathway. The protein is an N-glycosylated type I membrane protein that enhances the activation of protein C. Mutations in its gene have been associated with venous thromboembolism and myocardial infarction, as well as with late fetal loss during pregnancy.
