Recommended Dilution | ELISA (For coating, order Ab without BSA). Immunohistochemistry on Paraffin Sections: 0.5-1 µg/ml for 30 minutes at RT. Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires boiling tissue sections in 1mM EDTA buffer, pH 9.5, for 10-20 min followed by cooling at RT for 20 minutes. Positive Control: Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor (GIST) or testicular germ cell tumor. Melanocytes in the basal layer of the epidermis and mast cells in the dermis of normal skin. |

Specificity | Recognizes Human CD117 / c-kit. Other species not tested. This Monoclonal C117/370 antibody recognizes a protein of 145kDa, identified as CD117/p145 kit . It is found on a wide variety of tumor cells including follicular and papillary carcinoma of thyroid, adenocarcinomas from endometrium, lung, ovary, pancreas, and breast as well as malignant melanoma, endodermal sinus tumor, and small cell carcinoma. However, anti-CD117 has been particularly useful in differentiating gastrointestinal stromal tumors from Kaposi’s sarcoma, tumors of smooth muscle origin, fibromatosis, and neural tumors of the GI tract. Anti-CD117 is also useful in recognizing myeloblasts in bone marrow biopsy and clot section. Cellular Localization: Cell Surface and Cytoplasm. |
