Applications | ID, IP |
Recommended Dilution | In precipitating techniques as immunoelectrophoresis and single and double radial immunodiffusion (Mancini, Ouchterlony) to identify the presence of cortisol binding globulin or to determine its concentration. The presence of non-precipitating antibodies has not been assayed. This does not exclude the use of the antiserum in non-precipitating antibody-binding techniques as ELISA and Western blotting if proper controls are included. |
Reactivities | Human |
Host | Rabbit |
Clonality | Polyclonal |
Immunogen | Cortisol binding globulin is an alpha-1 glycoprotein with a molecular weight of 55,700. It is bonding and transporting cortisol in plasma. The mean concentration in adult serum is about 50 μg/ml. Elevated levels are observed in pregnancy. Freund’s complete adjuvant is used in the first step of the immunization procedure. |
Specificity | In immunoelectrophoresis and radial immunodiffusion, using various antiserum concentrations against human plasma a single precipitin line is obtained and shows a reaction of full identity with the purified immunogen. The antiserum does not react with any other protein component of human serum or plasma. Cross-reactivity: Inter-species cross-reactivity is a normal feature of antibodies to plasma proteins, since homologous proteins of different species frequently share antigenic determinants. Crossreactivity of this antiserum has not been tested in detail. |
Formulation | No preservative added. - No foreign proteins added. State: Serum State: Delipidated, heat inactivated, lyophilized, stable whole serum. |
Reconstitution Method | Restore by adding 1 ml sterile distilled water |
Storage | Prior to reconstitution store at 2-8°C. Following reconstitution store undiluted at 2-8°C for one week or (in aliquots) at -20°C for longer. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing. |
Stability | Shelf life: one year from despatch. |
Gene Name | Homo sapiens serpin peptidase inhibitor, clade A (alpha-1 antiproteinase, antitrypsin), member 6 (SERPINA6) |
