Background | Thyroxine binding is a protein with a molecular weight of 55,700 kD. The protein is binding Thyroxine as well as Triiodothyronine. In immunoelectrophoresis it has a alpha mobility. The mean concentration in normal human serum is about 40 mg/ml. Elevated levels are observed during oestrogen administration, pregnancy hypothyroidism. Reduced levels are observed in hypothyroidism. |
