Background | CD49b also known as integrin alpha-2, VLA-2 subunit alpha or collogen receptor. CD49b is a 1181 amino acid ¦130 kDa single pass type-1 transmembrane glycoprotein which forms a heterodimer with integrin beta-1 and mediates the adhesion of platelets and other cell types to the extracellular matrix. Loss of the encoded protein is associated with bleeding disorder platelet-type 9. Antibodies against this protein are found in several immune disorders, including neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia. |
