• Background: Orexin A is a 33 amino acid neuropeptide that includes an N-terminal pyroglutamyl residue, C-terminal amidation, and two intramolecular disulfide bridges between Cys 6 – Cys12, and between Cys7 – Cys14. Orexins (Orexin A and Orexin B) are produced by proteolytic cleavage of prepro-orexin. They were so named for their stimulatory role in feeding behavior, but also play important functions in the organism's energy homeostasis and sleep cycles. They exert their effects through G-protein coupled receptors. This antibody was generated by immunization of rabbits with Orexin A coupled to a carrier protein.
