• Background: Pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide, also known as PACAP, is a protein similar to vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP). One of its effects is to stimulate enterochromaffin-like cells. It binds to vasoactive intestinal peptide receptor and to the PACAP receptor. The PACAP precursor contains another peptide called PACAP- related peptide, which is expressed in the parvocellular part of the paraventricular nucleus (PVN), implying its role as hypothalamic regulatory peptide. This antibody was generated by immunization of rabbits with PACAP (1-29) coupled to a carrier protein.
