Applications | ELISA |
Recommended Dilution | This antibody has been tested and validated in ELISA against TGF-α (1- 50). Other applications like immunohistochemistry (IHC), FACS or Western Blot may work as well. Optimal dilutions should be determined by the end user. |
Reactivities | Rat |
Host | Rabbit |
Clonality | Polyclonal |
Immunogen | Synthetic peptide H-Val-Val-Ser-His-Phe-Asn-Asp-Cys-Pro-Asp-Ser-His- Thr-Gln-Phe-Cys-Phe-His-Gly-Thr-Cys-Arg-Phe-Leu-Val-Gln-Glu-Asp- Lys-Pro-Ala-Cys-Val-Cys-His-Ser-Gly-Tyr-Val-Gly-Ala-Arg-Cys-Glu-His- Ala-Asp-Leu-Leu-Ala-OH coupled to carrier protein. |
Formulation | Each vial contains enough antiserum for 500 RIA tubes. The powder should be rehydrated with 50ml RIA buffer. Upon reconstitution to 50ml total volume, the solution contains 0.1M sodium phosphate buffer (pH 7.4), 0.05M NaCl, 0.1% BSA, 0.01% NaN3, and 0.1% Triton X-100. Store at 4°C. This should ensure antibody stability for approximately one month. |
Concentration | N/A |
Conjugation | Unconjugated |
Storage | Original vial: at least one year at 4° - 8°C from date of delivery. Minimize repeated thawing and freezing of the antiserum by freezing aliquots at -20°C or below. |
Gene Name | transforming growth factor alpha |

Background | Transforming Growth Factor-alpha (TGF-α), also known as sarcoma growth factor, TGF-type I and ETGF, is a member of the EGF family of cytokines. It is expressed in monocytes, brain cells, keratinocytes and various tumor cells. TGF-α signals through EGFR and acts synergistically with TGF-beta to promote the proliferation of a wide range of epidermal and epithelial cells. TGF-α is a transforming growth factor that is a ligand for the epidermal growth factor receptor, which activates a signaling pathway for cell proliferation, differentiation and development. This protein may act as either a transmembrane-bound ligand or a soluble ligand. The biological actions of TGF-α and EGF are similar. This antibody was generated by immunization of rabbits with TGF-α (1-50) coupled to a carrier protein. |
