This should ensure antibody stability for approximately one month.

• Background: Somatostatin-28 is a 28-residue peptide that occurs naturally in mammals. It is a precursor of Somatostatin-14 which it contains at its N-terminus. Both are pharmacological inhibitors, even though they differ in certain specific effects. The shorter 14-mer Somatostatin is a cyclic oligopeptide with a short biological half-life, found in the gastrointestinal tract and the pancreas, as well as in the central and peripheral nervous systems. Analogs of Somatostatin have been developed for therapeutic application, such as Octreotide. This antibody was generated by immunization of rabbits with Somatostatin-28 coupled to a carrier protein.
