Background | Nesfatin-1 is a metabolic polypeptide encoded in the N-terminal region of the precursor protein, Nucleobindin-2 (NUCB2). Recombinant human Nesfatin-1 is a 9.7 kDa protein containing 82 amino acid residues. It participates in the regulation of hunger and fat storage. Increased nesfatin-1 in the hypothalamus contributes to diminished hunger and a potential loss of body fat and weight. Nesfatin-1 is originally identified as a hypothalamic neuropeptide, but it is also expressed in other areas of the brain, and in pancreatic islets β-cells, gastric endocrine cells and adipocytes. This antibody was generated by immunization of rabbits with Nesfatin-1 (24-38) coupled to a carrier protein. |
