Flow cytometry using the anti-CD59 antibody 193-27 (Ab01543). Jurkat cells were fixed using 2% PFA and stained with anti-unknown specificity antibody (Ab00178-23.0; isotype control, black line) or the rabbit IgG1 version of 193-27 (TA386373, blue line) at a dilution of 1:100 for 1h at RT. After washing, the bound antibody was detected using a goat anti-rabbit IgG AlexaFluor® 488 antibody at a dilution of 1:1000 and cells analyzed using a FACSCanto flow-cytometer.

Genetic defects in GPI-anchor attachment, that cause a reduction or loss of CD59 and CD55 on erythrocytes produce the symptoms of the disease paroxysmal hemoglobinuria (PNH) and thus this antibody is useful for study on GPI-anchored proteins, PNH and CD59 functions.
