HEK293T cells were transfected with the pCMV6-ENTRY control (Left lane) or pCMV6-ENTRY PRDX5 (RC210709, Right lane) cDNA for 48 hrs and lysed. Equivalent amounts of cell lysates (5 ug per lane) were separated by SDS-PAGE and immunoblotted with anti-PRDX5 (1:2000). Positive lysates LY402144 (100ug) and LC402144 (20ug) can be purchased separately from OriGene.

• Background: This gene encodes a member of the peroxiredoxin family of antioxidant enzymes, which reduce hydrogen peroxide and alkyl hydroperoxides. The encoded protein may play an antioxidant protective role in different tissues under normal conditions and during inflammatory processes. This protein interacts with peroxisome receptor 1. The crystal structure of this protein in its reduced form has been resolved to 1.5 angstrom resolution. This gene uses alternate in-frame translation initiation sites to generate mitochondrial or peroxisomal/cytoplasmic forms.
