Western blot analysis of extracts (35ug) from 9 different cell lines by using anti-ALDH1L1 monoclonal antibody (Clone UMAB43).

  Immunofluorescent staining of A549 cells using ALDH1L1 mouse monoclonal antibody (UM500039, green). Actin filaments were labeled with TRITC-phalloidin (red), and nuclear with DAPI (blue). The three-color overlay image is located at the bottom-right corner.

  Immunohistochemical staining of paraffin-embedded human embryonic liver tissue using ALDH1L1 clone UMAB43 mouse monoclonal antibody. Heat-induced epitope retrieval by 10mM citric buffer, pH6.0, 120°C for 3min in pressure chamber/cooker. UM500039 was diluted 1:400 and detection shown with HRP enzyme and DAB chromogen. Strong cytoplasmic and membranous staining is seen in the hepatocyte.

Strong cytoplasmic and membranous staining is seen in the in the glia, nueronal, and endothelial cells.

• Background: The protein encoded by this gene catalyzes the conversion of 10-formyltetrahydrofolate, nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADP+), and water to tetrahydrofolate, NADPH, and carbon dioxide. The encoded protein belongs to the aldehyde dehydrogenase family. Loss of function or expression of this gene is associated with decreased apoptosis, increased cell motility, and cancer progression. There is an antisense transcript that overlaps on the opposite strand with this gene locus. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2012]
