Gene Summary This gene encodes a member of the diacylglycerol kinase (DGK) enzyme family. Members of this family are involved in regulating intracellular concentrations of diacylglycerol and phosphatidic acid. Variation in this gene has been associated with bipolar disorder. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2014]
Transcript Variant: This variant (4) differs in the 5' UTR, lacks a portion of the 5' coding region, and contains two alternate exons in the 3' coding region, which results in a frameshift, compared to variant 1. It initiates translation at a downstream in-frame start codon. The encoded isoform (3) has a shorter N-terminus and a distinct C-terminus, and is shorter than isoform 1. Sequence Note: This RefSeq record was created from transcript and genomic sequence data to make the sequence consistent with the reference genome assembly. The genomic coordinates used for the transcript record were based on transcript alignments.
