Background | Transcription factor Spi-B belongs to the ETS family and contains one ETS DNA-binding domain. Spi-B inhibits human plasma cell differentiation by repressing BLIMP1 and XBP-1 expression, thus maintains activity of germinal center and memory B cells by direct repression of major plasma cell factors and thereby plasma cell differentiation. It is reported that Spi-B regulates Progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML) causing JCVirus gene expression, and may play an important role in JCV activity in the immune and nervous systems. It is also reported Spi-B is expressed in various murine and hematopoietic lines except T lymphoid lines. |
