Background | Advanced glycation end-products receptor (RAGE) is reported to be a multiligand receptor of the immunoglobulin superfamily expressed in myoblasts. It is developmentally regulated in skeletal muscle. It is reported that RAGE along with Amphoterin stimulates myoblast differentiation by the combined effect of stimulation of differentiation and inhibition of proliferation, and deregulation of RAGE expression in myoblasts might contribute to their neoplastic transformation. Various studies report that RAGE signaling in microglia contributes to the pathogenesis of an inflammatory response that ultimately impairs neuronal function and directly affects amyloid accumulation. |
