Gene Summary This gene encodes a member of the diacylglycerol kinase (DGK) enzyme family. Members of this family are involved in regulating intracellular concentrations of diacylglycerol and phosphatidic acid. Variation in this gene has been associated with bipolar disorder. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2014]
Transcript Variant: This variant (6) differs in the 5' UTR, lacks a portion of the 5' coding region, two exons in the central coding region, and an in-frame exon in the 3' coding region, compared to variant 1. It initiates translation at an alternate downstream start codon. The encoded isoform (5) has a distinct N-terminus and is shorter than isoform 1. Sequence Note: This RefSeq record was created from transcript and genomic sequence data to make the sequence consistent with the reference genome assembly.
